Such an underrated movie!!

7

u/flyvehest Sep 28 '22

Wait, what?!

22

u/DirtyDirkDk Sep 29 '22

Saw that as a kid…loved the joke he told.

So one day Superman's flying around metropolis. He's checking out the rooftops and all of a sudden he sees Wonder Woman laying out sunbathing on the roof of the Justice League fully nude and her legs spread wide open. To him she looks like she’s basically asking to get fucked.

So Superman starts thinking to himself, "Man I gotta get myself some of that Wonder Woman pussy." and then he realizes that he’s faster than a speeding bullet, he can fly down, fuck her so fast that he’ll be gone before she even sees him.

So Superman decides to do it, he swoops down, fucks her so quick, she doesn't even see him. Wonderwoman sits up and says, "What the fuck was that?" and The Invisible Man says "I don't know but my ass is killing me."

18

u/ADinnerOfSnacks Sep 28 '22

Tried watching this for the first time just last week. They took the creepy rape factor of The Invisible Man and really just honed in that and that alone. It was too much.

9

u/snarpy Sep 28 '22

Paul Verhoeven, ladies and gentlemen.

Easily his weakest recent film, and yet still terrifying.

9

u/D34THDE1TY Sep 28 '22

But it did give us the hilarious parody scene from scary movie 2!

3

u/Blasterbot Sep 28 '22

IT WAS JUST A BOOTY CALL!

I can't find this damn movie, I just saw the river where they shot a lot of the scenes too so it's really irritating.

It’s on YouTube

1

u/GuyWhoRocks95 Sep 28 '22

That’s actually cool as hell you got to see those spots. I used to show all my friends it and rewatch it constantly when I was you see.

Beverly Hills Cop: I dunno, his name? That’ll do.

38

u/Aquagoat Sep 28 '22

Batman: Bruce Wayne

10

u/ThenAnAnimalFact Sep 29 '22

It would be cool to have a small Batman movie that is like Die Hard. Bruce is trapped in a Wayne Tower building without access to his batsuit. So he has to defeat the guys and be Batman while maintaining the Bruce Wayne persona in front of others.

I'm pretty sure it's a riff on "Top Gun: Maverick" and delayed sequels.

63

u/B4-711 Sep 28 '22

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to only be "Axel Foley" but marketing told them that it's not enough name recognition.

29

u/sanguiniuswept Sep 28 '22

Yeah, everyone knows his name is Aquel

-6

u/MoseSchruteJunior Sep 28 '22

It's so stupid though. If you don't care enough about the franchise to recognize the lead character's name, then you don't care enough about the franchise period.

Nobody's gonna be like "What's an Axel Foley? Sounds stupid... Oh wait it's Beverly Hills Cop?? I'm sold!"

14

u/arealhumannotabot Sep 28 '22

I get it, but you're thinking of it as someone who's already familiar with the franchise.

There are people who've never watched any BHC and are quite young, and this could introduce them to the series of movies

8

u/DalliLlama Sep 28 '22

Not true, I’m a millennial but watched this with my parents when I was younger. Had no clue the name, Beverly Hills Cop has me interested now. Theme song Is forever stuck in my head.

3

u/marcx1984 Sep 28 '22

The theme song is called Axel Foley

9

u/Shopworn_Soul Sep 28 '22

The song title is actually just "Axel F" but yeah, it's clearly his name.

u/criosovereign Sep 29 '22

I was literally like that with this post

18

u/criosovereign Sep 28 '22

I was gonna call the movie "Eddie Murphy Is Sitting On Top of the World," but now I think I might as well just call it "Eddie Murphy Can Sit On Top of the World Just As Long As He Has Kevin Bacon With Him, And He Doesn't Sit in the Beverly Palm Hotel 'Cause There's No N*ggers Allowed in There!"

17

u/GotMoFans Sep 28 '22

The real article actually was called “Eddie Murphy is on Top of the World” in Playboy.

http://www.thestacksreader.com/eddie-murphy-is-on-top-of-the-world/

115

u/TaskForceD00mer Sep 28 '22

LMAO

People downvoting you obviously don't remember the first movie. That scene was hilarious to watch the uptight, white manager get noticeably more more uptight and concerned as the scene unfolded then rush to kiss Axel's ass to save the reputation of his hotel.

23

u/spaycedinvader Sep 28 '22

To this day that scene is one of my favorites ever in a movie.

31

u/l_rufus_californicus Sep 28 '22

If Michael call, tell him what room I’m in.

5

u/WithAFrickingPencil Sep 29 '22

Of course, sir.

5

u/arealhumannotabot Sep 28 '22

The ol' talk fast n loud, it confuses them

9

u/KenMixtape Sep 28 '22

I remember being confused as to the manager responding how expensive the rooms were and Eddie just says "Fine!" I dunno how he was supposed to afford an open ended stay there and it gets magically resolved by the Beverly Hills police force abruptly paying his bill at the end.

21

u/mikerophonyx Sep 29 '22

I dunno if you still dunno but the idea is Axel never intended to pay. He came to LA from Detroit, found a city full of soft and naive rich people, and already knew that he could sucker most of them into or out of anything.

3

u/knave-arrant Sep 29 '22

This is even more evident with his accommodations in the second movie.

Beyond that, most agencies hosting people will pay their accommodations. I worked for a non-profit that had less money flowing through it than the BHPD in that movie and we used to put people up in fancy ass hotels all the time.

I’m sure the Palms would have just comped it for the Mayor or the Chief anyway. You want those kinds of contacts.

Does anyone know if Judge Reinholdt will be back. I heard he had a semi successful tv show where he plays a real judge.

“My name is judge!!!”

32

u/DanteDMC2001 Sep 28 '22

Yep! Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Bronson Pinchot, and Paul Reiser are confirmed back for the film, so far.

26

u/xilsage Sep 28 '22

Lol I loved Paul Reisers character. This is not my office!

Bronson Pinchot

Last week it was also reported that four original “Beverly Hills Cop” cast members – Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser, John Ashton and Bronson Pinchot – are also joining the cast.

31

u/chad4359 Sep 28 '22

I actually thought John Ashton was dead already because he looked like he was in his 60s in the first 2 movies

35

u/Scioptic- Sep 28 '22

John Ashton was 36 when that first movie was released. 36!!!

15

u/ImBearGryllz Sep 28 '22

This just blew my mind so much! I came here to say this as well. How the fuck was he only 36, hell probably 35 while shooting!!!

Maybe he’s retired and gets pulled back in for “one more job.”

29

u/TaskForceD00mer Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

Oh sweet Eddie Murphy is making a comeba.....

The Netflix film

Fuck

Maybe this will be one of the rare, really standout good Netflix movies but man...Netflix is great at making below average to average movies.

38

u/MoonMetaphysics Sep 28 '22 edited Sep 28 '22

eddie murphy’s comeback film, “Dolemite Is My Name” was released on netflix and it was great so there is a chance this can be good. although “Coming 2 America” was released on netflix as well and…

edit: coming 2 america was on amazon prime. my bad. got my streaming services fucked up again. thanks to the commenter below for the correction.

17

u/marjoethefalse Sep 28 '22

Coming 2 America was a Prime original not a Netflix.

3

u/FremenDar979 Sep 28 '22

All the streaming services are the same.

Acquiring the content, that's an easier mattress.

9

u/TaskForceD00mer Sep 28 '22

Dolemite Is My Name is one of those great rare films on Netflix, Coming 2 America as you said.....

Just crossing my fingers on this

2

u/SpecificAstronaut69 Sep 28 '22

Who the FUCK'S idea was it to make it PG?

2

u/badwhiskey63 Sep 28 '22

I can't remember the last time I rooted for a character as much as I rooted for Rudy Ray Moore in Dolemite!

2

u/MoonMetaphysics Sep 28 '22

hell yeah. it’s such a dope success story.

1

u/robineir Sep 28 '22

Coming 2 America is on Prime Video. (In case anybody wanted to go watch it and wondered why it wasn’t on Netflix)

4

u/simian_fold Sep 28 '22

I find Netflix films so irritating in that they always start like the pilot episode of a new series and try to hook you within five minutes to stop you zapping away to something else. Theres almost never the time taken for decent exposition, like give me some credit Netflix i have seen a movie before you know.

10

u/Xsafa Sep 28 '22

100% can’t stand the look and feel Netflix has decided to use for all of their films. Odd mix of high budgets but made to look cheap.

5

u/negGpush Sep 28 '22

Yeah they all look like the have that "soap opera effect".

2

u/arealhumannotabot Sep 28 '22

There are Netflix films, and then there are Netflix films. This isn't one of THOSE movies.

Every company that produces features has its turd pile...

1

u/hardspank916 Sep 28 '22

Lou was good

3

u/negGpush Sep 28 '22

Beverly Hills Cop is one of my favorites of all time, I hope so badly this one is good.

3

u/BoSocks91 Sep 28 '22

Ok.

Now Im intrigued.

11

u/TheLAriver Sep 28 '22

These recycled movies are basically just funko pops with huge budgets

5

u/TiredOfYoSheeit Sep 28 '22

I worry that this will be a shit show, but let's be positive and hope for the best.

While I'm being all rosy n' stuff, I hope Bronson Pinchot returns as Serge.

5

u/Tlizerz Sep 28 '22

He is.

3

u/TiredOfYoSheeit Sep 29 '22

That's good news. I was worried about not getting a laymone twaist.

1

u/mostlygroovy Sep 29 '22

6

u/Jed1m1ndtr1cks Sep 28 '22

Fuck that. I'm here for this. 3 was a travesty, but maverick showed you can revisit these properties and do them well.

2

u/breecher Sep 29 '22

But then again there are so many examples to the contrary as well.

1

u/Jed1m1ndtr1cks Sep 29 '22

Yeah. Could totally backfire. I'm willing to risk it.

2

u/robineir Sep 28 '22

What’s the next Eddie Murphy movie to get a several decade late sequel? Vampire in Brooklyn?

4

u/Sixersleeham Sep 28 '22

2

u/snark_enterprises Sep 28 '22

2

u/loogie97 Sep 29 '22

I really hope he is the bad guy. He plays such a great bad guy.

2

u/s0mnambulance Sep 29 '22

It's quickly becoming like '2 degrees of Kevin Bacon.' What a fucking career! I'm still blown away that he took the chance to do The Woodsman, still one of the most unsettling movies/roles I've ever seen. He was big enough to not have to take a chance like that, and the dude and awesome partner Kyra Sedgwick went for it anyway. Now THAT is a serious actor... who also hung unexpected, end-of-movie dong in Wild Things. LEGEND.

2

u/aldoktor Sep 29 '22

Ya but is Balki going to be in it?

2

u/HeWhoIsNotMe Sep 29 '22

Everything is better with Bacon.
