Damn. He's been a commanding officer in so many of my favorite shows. Fringe, The Wire, and Bosch. It's painful to hear he's passed.

He’s also a HUGE voice actor
edit: some highlights - Destiny 1&2, Vox Machina, Rick and Morty, Avengers: EMH, Ducktales, Beware the Batman, Payday 2, Horizon Zero Dawn and the list goes on…
There’s no voice quite like his…

He has one of those iconic, commanding, one-of-a-kind voices, and he'll be missed

Yeah I’ve been playing Destiny since the beta and he’s absolutely iconic. He was the last remaining of the first set of voice actors in early Destiny that were media celebrities (Nathan Fillion, Peter Dinklage) that is still in the game.
Every Destiny player knows his most iconic lines by heart.

According to TMZ, their LEO sources said it appeared to be natural causes - not suicide. This also seemed to be completely unexpected, as he was seemingly signed on to do additional John Wick films?

He pulled out of the John Wick 4 premiere a few days ago. It sounds like he wasn’t feeling well.

Just a bit of a PSA for anyone in the same boat. Don’t know what happened with Lance, obviously, but this is eerily similar to a 37 year old friend of mine who “wasn’t feeling well” for about three weeks. He was having a heart attack and didn’t know it. Would’ve likely survived had he sought medical attention.
e: Symptoms were indigestion/heartburn and low energy, IIRC. But more importantly, don’t brush this stuff off. See a doc.

u/nickfitz79 Mar 17 '23
My best friend died at 28 unexpectedly from heart failure after a week of flu symptoms. December 2020, tested negative for Covid so the hospital told him to just go home and rest. Then he never woke up.
257
u/Borscht_ Mar 17 '23
I also had flu-like symptoms at 24. I went to the ER, and luckily the doctor on duty decided that I should stay there overnight. Lo and behold, that night I went into a cardiac arrest and then awakened by a defibrillator. Super lucky to still be alive.

You'd be surprised by how "normal" people just go through stuff. My grandfather had a stroke and still managed to drive around town to do some shopping and then came up to my parent's house to visit. Only reason we were able to tell him to stay is because my dad wasn't home yet, but it was fairly obvious he had a stroke (one side of his face was droopy and he had slurred speech because of it). Sometimes it's just "wasn't feeling well" and other times it's literally dead in a few minutes.

Myocardial infarction which is more commonly known as having a heart attack is when a blood vessel is blocked causing tissue of the heart to slowly deoxygenate and die. It is a reasonably slow process and is generally treatable if you seek help early enough. Symptoms can include a sudden pain in the chest radiating into the arm but they can definitely be more subtle than that.

His combination of disdain and admiration for Bosch was balanced so well. Both actors knew how to show that their characters knew how to play "the games" of what they were involved with. Here's my Lance Reddick story:
I'm in the board game industry and I'm constantly working various types of conventions. One time at Emerald City Comic Con, I made a point of getting away from my booth to meet Lance.
I was first in line and weirdly I was nervous to meet him which is strange since I commonly meet a lot of industry people. Anyway, he shows up and I say "You are the coolest fucking actor ever" then I felt dumb for saying Fuck and apologized.
But he brought himself right down to my level and very nicely said that he just geeked out over meeting Michael Biehn (who was also at that con).
Amidst all these Lance Reddick articles, I was THIS article: https://twitter.com/JimJarmuschHair/status/1636818774279213057 which shows him having a similar geek experience over Keanu Reeve's girlfriend and also using something to the effect of "Cool as fuck" so that made me better after all these years too.
Anyway, in board games I'm knowning for being the designer of the Drinking Quest series and he signed this for me and it's just been the greatest: https://twitter.com/DrinkingQuest/status/1156257059744227328
This was nine years ago and I was still fairly new to game design and publishing at the time so to get a boost like this early one was really nice to have.
TL;DR I awkwardly geeked out, Lance was a gentleman about it

Corporate was my introduction to him, and is one of my favorite shows ever. He was so hilarious in that show - I wish more people would watch it.
This death makes no sense to me. He seemed so crazy young and healthy.

60 is too young. He had so much more acting & important things to still do. This really sucks. RIP

Oh man. 😞 I remember meeting him at HMV back in the day when I worked there. Just the nicest, most humble dude. Way too young.

Don't forget Fringe!
This dude is in so many of my favorite shows. The entertainment world has lost one of it's best character actors. Lance had some of the most awesome stoic screen presence I've ever seen.
Rest well, Mr. Reddick. You'll be remembered fondly by many.

I am re-watching the Wire now…he was definitely one of my favourite parts of the show. Too young to go at 60.
