Mongol mythology is around the great golden turtle who raised mongolia from the seas. There use to be four turtle stones which i guess were like compass points that surrounded the ancient capital of mongolia, kharakorom, which i was told meant Big Camp.those stones were meant to anchor the land. I think most of them have been lost.

I visited Mongolia back in 2007 so this is all from memory and may be mixed up. Mongols were orginally sharmin.
